1. Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy

So I wrote down the wrong publication date for this one - I thought this would be published May 18th, not March 18th. I literally discovered that seconds ago which means PANIC because I have to fit it in my reading schedule somehow and aaaah I don't know how I'm going to. Either way, this is at the top of my TBR because I'm going to need to finish this soon. O.O

2. Great by Sara Benincasa

Apparently this is a YA Great Gatsby retelling. Now, I actually haven't read The Great Gatsby, but still. I'm always in for a retelling, and I remember this author doing an awesome post on 1 star ratings and why authors shouldn't be angry about them!

3. Split Second by Kasie West

I own a copy and I still haven't read this. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I need to read this ASAP.

4. Life by Committee by Corey Ann Haydu

This one has a really interesting synopsis. I don't really know what this book is about, but it sounds fun and slightly Panic-like. Also, this is by the same author as OCD Love Story, which has received good reviews. I'm excited for this one!

5. Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern

The Fault in Our Stars x Eleanor and Park. I'm in!

     

6. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

I finally own this, and everyone is raving about Marchetta. I've already read and liked her book Saving Francesca, but apparently this really is it. I'm curious.

7. The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik

This sounds very cute. Not without flaws, but cute. Which is exactly what I need from time to time!

8. Sleep No More by Aprilynne Pike

Pike's Wings series maybe wasn't of high quality, but it was highly enjoyable, which is why I am excited for Sleep No More. It sounds completely different from Wings, which I can appreciate! I love it when authors do different things. I really hope this delivers.

9. Some Quiet Place by Kelsey Sutton

Finally, finally, I have a copy of the Book with the Gorgeous Cover. (and Interesting Synopsis). In other words, MUST READ THIS SOON.

10. Tease by Amanda Maciel

I'm hoping for something à la Dangerous Girls, which I LOVED. I hope to see a twisted but awesome novel. Please, please don't disappoint!

Top Ten Books That Will Make You Cry

Ooh. This is actually quite a tricky topic for me since I do not cry over books. So beneath is basically a list of books that made me either really sad or go "NOOOOOOOOOO!".

1. Me Since You by Laura Wiess

You guys, this is one of the saddest books EVER. Like I said, I don't cry over books, but damn if I didn't get close to it. I read this with tears in my eyes, which to me is the equivalent of bawling your eyes out. So sad and beautiful.

2. Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

This is definitely one of those "NOOOOOOOO!" books. If you've read this, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, why? Get on with it, ruin your life. This book will devastate you.

3. Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Beautiful and absolutely heartbreaking. The prettiness of this book alone makes me want to cry, but it's really really sad too. Believe me when I say that you need this in your life: this is definitely one of the most under-appreciated novels ever.

4. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

This is such a beautiful novel and definitely one of my favorites. Just wait until you get to the end - I definitely had a *gasp* "Wait wait wait wait wait. This did not just happen. It DID NOT." - moment.

5. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

Because this is my list so I can cheat all I want. Either way, DoBaS is just so sad. This is one of the few books that has made me really feel war. It's all so bleak and cruel, and those little moments of hope and happiness break your heart all the more.

6. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

While I know that many did not like it because of the main character, this is actually my favorite Oliver book. I think it's just beautiful (can we all agree that apparently all books that made me sad are also beautiful?) how everything unfolds and it sends out a really strong message of "live like you'll die tomorrow" - because that might actually happen. And most of us won't get the chance to make things right.

7. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Honestly, you could put any Hunger Games book on this list. I'm going with Mockingjay because there are so. Many. Deaths. It's so heartbreaking. I'm still not over it.

8. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

All is well, you're enjoying this book and it's kinda fun. AND THEN. FREAKINESS AND AHHH WHAT IS HAPPENING WHY WHY WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME WHY.

9. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

For a large part of the book, this isn't that sad. Well, a little, but nothing you can't handle. And then the ending happens and oh dear, we're all fucked. It is very likely you'll cry. Just sayin'.

10. Heartbeat by Elizabeth Scott

Nothing absolutely devastating happens in this book, but there's a reason I created a "sad-sad-sad" shelf for this. This is definitely an extremly sad book and if you don't hate it, you just might cry.

Actually, I happen to know that this is a book that Santa is bringing me. *happy dance* It's on the top of my OMG-NEED-IT-NOW list, so I'm excited!! 

2. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

I'm not sure if this is going to be a Christmas gift, but the possibility is most definitely there :D

3. Emily the Strange: the Lost Days by Rob Reger

Because I LOVED this one when I was younger and I do not own a copy... So yeah, this is pure sentiment. 

4. Scarlet by A. C. Gaughen

Because everyone's raving about this so I figured that I HAD to read it!

5. Meant to Be by Lauren Morill

Because this sounds über-cute and perfect for the holidays. Give it to me now, please!

6. Split Second by Kasie West (pre-order)

Because OMG. Pivot Point was perfection. I need this. Badly.

7. On the Fence by Kasie West (pre-order)

Because more Kasie West is always good. And I really want to read this, to be honest.

8. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Because it's about time I read this one.

9. Every Day by David Levithan

Because I NEED more of that absolutely stunning prose. Seriously. Just yesterday I was admiring my bookshelf (as one does) and my eye fell on Two Boys Kissing. That's right, I thought, it's one of my favorites from 2013. So I picked it up and started randomly reading snippets of it. I have no idea where all the time went, but all of a sudden my mother's calling because dinner was ready O.o 

10. The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

Because I STILL haven't read this one.

Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I've Read In 2013

* This list isn't in order of preference. (It's basically in order of THAT AUTHOR. Oh, I mustn't forget that OTHER author. *looks at GR* HOW COULD I FORGET THAT AUTHOR!? *flings on list*) Just so you know.

1. Kasie West

It was in 2013 that I discovered and read Pivot Point and damn. It's one of my favorite books and I simply can't contain my gushing <3 Then I read The Distance Between Us and that was ALSO amzingly good! Hello, new favorite author.

2. Jessi Kirby

I have only read Golden, but that should be enough to convince anyone. While I didn't think it was absolutely flawless, it was such a beautiful and inspiring read. I need to read more Jessi Kirby books, but my to-read pile is pretty huge...

3. Marissa Meyer

I think Cinder was actually my first read of the year! It's definitely one of the most fun books I've ever read. I haven't read Scarlet yet, but fully intend to (hopefully it'll be a present underneath the Christmas tree). Meyer did some really original things and everything was just amazing and cute and ahhh! 

4. Jodi Lynn Anderson

Two words: Tiger Lily. 

Three more words: READ IT NOW.

5. Lauren Oliver

Beautiful writing style, beautiful books. Before I Fall is one of my favorite books. It's so beautiful and I absolutely love it. 

6. Veronica Rossi

I binge read her trilogy (thanks to the read-along Finding Bliss in Books hosted) and it was awesome! I had actually read the first book earlier this year but couldn't really remember much. Well, this is an awesome trilogy. The books keep getting better and better. Yes, I'm waiting impatiently until Rossi writes another book. 

7. Alison Goodman

While I though Eon was good, Eona was absolutely AMAZING! Yes, it totally deserves caps lock. Eona was just perfect. Oh yes, I went there. Just. Whoa.

8. David Levithan

I only read one book of his - Two Boys Kissing - and that was more than enough to convince me. His prose. His effing prose, you guys. And the beauty of the novel. The effing beauty ;_;

9. Sarah J. Maas

Crown of Midnight killed me.

10. Christin Terrill

I really loved All Our Yesterdays. That ending was amazing and action-y and whoa. And oh yeah, FINN. Finn, you guys, Finn.

1. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

I just KNOW I'm getting this one for Christmas. And EEP I can't wait!! I'm ridiculously excited for this and I will drop everythig as soon as I get my hands on this pretty.

2. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Okay, so I'm not sure I'm getting this one for Christmas, but it is very likely. FINALLY I'll be able to read this and lust after Cress with you guys!

3. Elusion by Claudia Gabel & Cheryl Klam

I have an ARC of this pretty so I'll be reading this one soon! Just look at that incredibly shiny cover <3 Yup, I'll get to this one soon!

4. After The End by Amy Plum

Eep! More ARCey goodness. While Plum's Revenants series may not have been the best when it comes to quality, it was SO MUCH FUN and the ultimate guilty pleasure read for me. So yeah, pretty darn excited!

5. Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor

This seems like a really sad book that will leave many people sobbing. So yeah, I'll be reading it soon. As in, very soon.

6. All That Glows by Ryan Graudin

This sounds soooo good! Fae, princes, mystery... Oh yeah baby. My only complaint is that the main character is named Emrys. I can't read that name without thinking of Merlin (the TV series), which gets me really nostalgic because I faithfully watched every episode with my parents and I was so sad when it was over. *sigh* Good times. 

7. Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman

I'll just leave you the synopsis:

"In 1930s Munich, danger lurks behind dark corners, and secrets are buried deep within the city. But Gretchen Müller, who grew up in the National Socialist Party under the wing of her "uncle" Dolf, has been shielded from that side of society ever since her father traded his life for Dolf's, and Gretchen is his favorite, his pet.

8. Don't Call Me Baby by Gwendolyn Heasley

A book about blogging. BLOGGING. Oh yes, this will be right up my alley.

9. The Iron Traitor by Julie Kagawa

I still haven't read my e-ARC of this one. Shame on me. Apparently this has a really emotionally crippling cliffhanger ending, and oh, I'm sure Kagawa will punch me in the feels several times. I MUST GET TO THIS SOON. 

10. Speechless by Hannah Harrington

So I saw this on Edelweiss and requested it without realizing that this book had actually come out in 2012. Oops. And then - even stranger - I was approved to read it O.o But my galley will expire soon-ish, so I have to get to this pretty soon. Apparently it's amazing, and certain people won't shut up about this Sam, haha. I guess I'm in for a treat?

I decided to be fair and not do any sequels, since that was a TTT a couple of weeks ago! So, only standalones and series starters for me! Also, no things that I have an ARC of.

1. On The Fence by Kasie West

Kasie West book? Hell yes! Pivot Point is one of my favorite books and The Distance Between Us was so cute and fluffy and amazing. Of COURSE I'm dying to read On The Fence.

2. Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morril

This sounds so cute and awesome. I've heard great thing about Morril's previous books, so I hope this one will be awesome!

3. The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith

That cover is awesome and it alone makes me want to read this. 

4. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

I have never read anythign by Lockhart, but apparently the books are awesome! I've heard nothing but GREAT things for this one, so yeah, I'm excited!

5. Love Letters To The Dead by Ava Dellaira

The cover is SO PRETTY. The synopsis sounds pretty amazing and intruiges me. 

6. Pointe by Brandy Colbert

THAT SYNOPSIS. GIMME.

7. The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski

This book has received pretty much only very positive reviews so far. Pair that with a pretty cover and a great synopsis and you've got me drooling over this.

8. After The End by Amy Plum

Her Revenants-series was a total guilty pleasure for me, and I hope this will be awesome! That synopsis is so intruiging and I hope this will live up to expectations. *crosses fingers*

9. What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Apparently, My Life Next Door was REALLY good, so I'm excited for this one! Can't wait to read my first Fitzpatrick book, since everyone is fangirling!

10. #scandal by Sarah Ockler

This sounds pretty interesting. I normally really dislike cheaters, but if Ockler manages to make me symphatize with the characters, I'm sold.

1. Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor

Okay, we all saw this one coming, didn't we? But still. I NEVER pre-order books in case the reviews aren't favorable and I won't like it. This is the only book I have ever pre-ordered. Says enough, yes?


2. Split Second (Pivot Point, #2) by Kasie West

Pivot Point was pure awesomeness. I need this right now, because TREVOR. I need more Trevor!


3. Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer

Yes, Scarlet is out already. Has been for quite some time. But for some reason I keep forgetting to order this and it's very frustrating! My plan is to ask this for Christmas... If I don't forget that...


4. The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines, #4) by Richelle Mead

I would read any book that features Adrian. Seriously. Although this spin-off isn't my favorite, I will read it beause Adrian.


5. World After (Penryn and the End of Days #2) by Susan Ee

Angelfall was so incredibly badass. I also need more Raffe and Penryn (I'm starting to notice a trend here... There's an awful lot of book boyfriend-flailing going on). I have heard that it's pretty creepy though, and I am a scaredy cat. Seriously, I cannot handle too much creepiness, so we'll see how this goes... *crosses fingers*


6. Ignite Me (Shatter Me, #3) by Tahereh Mafi

I just. I just.


7. The One (The Selection, #3) by Kiera Cass

Okay, I know. Don't look at me like that. But seriously, this series is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I'll probably dislike The One, but I need it all the same. She just needs to pick Maxon, that's all.

Yes, the first half of Perfect Ruin was boring. But that ending! I NEED to know what happens next!

Because Crown of Midnight was amazing. FEELS. A lot of them!

10. All Our Yesterdays #2 by Christin Terril

I have NO idea where this could go with AOY's ending, but I'm excited for this anyway. I mean, AOY was  AMAZING. Finn <3

Ha, it's getting a bit boring, isn't it? I honestly believe that DoSaB has been in all my TTTs so far :P (except one). But hey, I do think Karou is an exceptionally beautiful name.

I absolutely love this name. It's so poetic and beautiful and GAH! Really really love it.

Top Ten Best/Worst Series Enders

Or at least... that's what I'm supposed to be doing this week. I don't even WANT to go looking at the number of series I've finished, because I know it'll make me sad. Like, really sad. I also promised myself I wouldn't say Harry Potter, so yeah... I don't have many series left...

Instead I'll make it a Top Two Tuesday: Two of the best and worst series enders. Here we go..

Worst series enders:

Requiem (Delirium, #3) by Lauren Oliver

 

Okay, I've said this many times, but it's true: I WANT A REAL ENDING. Argh! This book has one of the worst open endings in history. It was a major disappointment. I mean, I don't mind it when a book has an open ending or not all things are revealed... but then it should have a sequel. This was the last book in the series, and I know NOTHING more than I did in Pandemonium. Can you tell I'm frustrated?

Endlessly (Paranormalcy, #3) by Kiersten White







Another major disappointment. The Paranormalcy series had such a cute and light vibe, and it was perfect for a rainy day: fast, cutesy and nothing too heavy. And then Endlessly came. It was boring, Evy was stupid, the romance wasn't cutesy but borderline vomit-inducing. No thank you.

Best series enders:

Mockingjay (Hungergames, #3) by Suzanne Collins



Do I know I'm the odd one out? Yes. Do I care? No. I thought Mockingjay was such a perfect, raw and emotional end to this series. I do agree that certain characters didn't need to die (especially that one person, you know... Finnick  <- select text to see who.. I don't want to spoil anyone. *sniff*), but the way Katniss slowly went mad with grief and anger and haunting memories and perfection. It took my breath away.

Eona (Eon, #2) by Alison Goodman



I will keep fangirling over this one forever. This novel... It was perfection. The character development was nothing short of awesome, as were the dragons, and teh rest, but the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT people! Whoa. This might actually be the best book I ever read when we're talking about character development. Yes, I'm willing to go there. It was that good.
